Sonata! I have to admit, I’m glad to return our darling little murderess in the story, if just as a glance. To me, Sonata embodies Gossamer Commons. Pretty (if a touch giant-eyed), with a sense of wonder that clings her. Shy. Playful. Sometimes solemn. Sometimes annoyed. Sometimes giggly. And of course she condemned our lead character to death. What’s not to love?

The first time Greg Holkan drew Sonata, she wore a tutu and carried a wand. I really liked her overall look, but felt the costuming was wrong. I explained that Sonata was something of a toddler, and her returned two designs as a result. One was the “tinkerbell” dress she wore in her last appearance. I had specified that, because we really wanted to emphasize the whole concept — the modern archetype — of the fairy when we saw her for the first time. After all, it was something of a surprise.

The second drawing had Sunny wearing Osh Koshes. I absolutely loved it. I’m glad to see them make their “official” debut.

Below these words you’ll see another two pieces of fan art. First, we have the ever ethereal, always lovely Mercy, as rendered by the exquisitely talented Miss Mab. Next to that, we have the attitude of Miss Trudy Glick (what is it with getting Mercy and Trudy fan art pics back to back?) as done by the Ministry of Awesome’s own Kate Sith. Kate designed Trudy’s Hobosexual shirt (including a cardboard box with love ascending out of it). Greg and I are jealous as Hell we didn’t think of it first.
